It is absolutely imperative to understand how people read on the blog, before writing Blog Content, how they behave while surfing on internet, what your reader expect from page they visit, or how they interpret and respond.

Reading Web Content is hell of a task for Reader:

Reading from a computer screen is like 100 pushups for eyes, it tires you faster than printed content. It decreases your reading speed to 60% then reading printed content. That’s why your blog content has to be 50% shorter than print.

Readers don’t actually Read:

Study of usability expert , suggest majority of readers on the Web tend skim highlighted words, hyperlinked text and bulleted lists rather than read word for word.

Readers are Raring to Go:

People reading your blog have no patience for obscure and intricate text, and they don’t enjoy scrolling through masses of text to get the information they want, their needs are specific and they want it fast.

Reader Suffer From Information Overload:

People using internet are surrounded by tons of information that they don’t have time to consume. That’s why they don’t want to waste time and attempt reading content that they may not find useful. Do you feel like this when you check your feed reader, or checking tweets and flickr photos from your mates?

Now that you know how people respond to web content, what is their mindset. How you can use this information to write Griping content that your readers can’t avoid.

You may not win Nobel Prize, but if you follow the steps outlined in this post above, you will be able to produce effective web content that you reader cant neglect.

    Reader Suffer From Information Overload:

I agree with you on this Sunil, there are so many sorces for finding information people seldom read long and novel like post

I absolutely agree with you, most of us (blog readers) hardly pay attention and read the topic if the topic is long and doesn’t fulfill our criteria and aim for the information.

Sometimes the information we are looking for might be small in size and some blogs make the topic quite long enough in such scenario we loose interest.

    Good one from you……..

Interesting thoughts. I will now keep my posts shorter and only write the most important information (be more concise). That’s very hard for me! I’m verbose. I will also keep in mind that I don’t need extraneous words as well as information.

Another thing I learned is that a paper page (8″ x 11″) is the standard size that the eye likes to read. So it will ALWAYS be hard for people to read a page on the net — unless it follows this standard. Scrolling is hard for folks. So therefore, making posts is preferrable. i didn’t know if you knew that fact about the 8 x 11, perhaps you may want to look that one up (like perhaps google it). It’s quite an interesting fact, and may help others to keep their posts shorter!

    Thanks for a great post!

    Good morning!

This is my first visit to your blog – lots of good informative posts here as is this one.

You are so right. We humans have been swamped with so much information over the last decade or so that we “skim” just about everything now. I have often wondered if people still read books or do they just skim them?

I think you wrote this article in a format that all bloggers should use. Headlines, bullets, and sub-headlines. You use them well my friend. More importantly, they get to the point.

    Take care,
    Chuck
